ROSARY ROOM
 
Refreshments - served after 11.00 am Mass each Sunday. Arts and Crafts for the children.
 
Pilates - every Monday 1.30-2.30 pm and 6.15-7.15 pm. For booking phone Linda 07900541034.
 
Reading Group -The FIRST Tuesday of every month at 7.30 pm. List of the books at the back of Church and in the Rosary Room. Contact 01204 469820 for details.
 
Thursday Club - The FIRST Thursday of every month either at 1 pm for lunch followed by a talk OR at 10.20 am in the car park for an outing. List of events at the back of church and in the Rosary Room. Contact 01257 268646 for details.
 
Canasta - every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month 2-4 pm.
 
Prayer Group - meets every Wednesday at 7.30 pm in the Rosary Room. Please join us for a prayerful reading of the Sunday scripture. You will be made most welcome.
 
St Mary's Choir- The choir rehearses in the Rosary Room every Thursday evening from 7.30 pm and sings at 11 am Mass on Sundays. We are not just a choir, we are friends who enjoy meeting to chat over a cup of tea as well as to sing. Please come along and join us. No previous singing experience is needed, though Placido Domingo would not be turned down. Robert Aston Tel: 468896.

Use of Notice Board - to advertise goods or services, business cards or flyers free of charge. Donations are always welcome for the upkeep of the room.

CAFOD
 
The Retiring Collection Today -for CAFOD will be given to Elizabeth Dewhurst to boost the sponsored money she is collecting for CAFOD. Good luck Elizabeth and Thankyou everyone for your support.
 
"Horray for Hollywood"- a charity evening of cabaret and dancing organised by Chorley and Wigan Catenians in aid of CAFOD at Rivington Barn on Wednesday, 13th October at 7 pm for 7.30 pm.

Recycle ¬- your old mobile phone for CAFOD. Box at rear of church for collection. £76 recently received from previous collection. Thank you.
 
MAGNIFICAT BOOKLETS
 
This is the official Mass book for the Papal Visit. This is a joint venture of the two bishop's Conferences, Magnificat, CTS and The Universe Media Group and is being made available to parishioners in all parishes. For those attending a Papal Mass or the Hyde Park Vigil, please do make sure you take a copy. Please restrict the books to one per family. They are free but if you would like to make a donation in the basket near to the books, £2 per copy would help cover the costs. Please use the Handbook when following the Pope's visit on television or the internet.
 
THE HOLY FATHER'S VISIT ON TELEVISION
 
It is possible to watch the whole of the Holy Father's visit to England and Scotland on television on a thoroughly Catholic channel. The American Eternal Word Television (EWTN) is covering every moment of the visit from the touchdown in Scotland on Thursday 16th to the beatification of John Henry Cardinal Newman on Sunday 19th. If you have any SKY television package, you should have no trouble getting EWTN COMPLETELY FREE. Simply click on channel 589. EWTN can also be tuned in on BBC Freesat. If you don't have SKY or BBC Freesat, you can obtain EWTN but you will have to pay an installation charge. Contact 0208 350 2542 for information. EWTN is backed by the American bishops and is on 24 hours a day all the year round.

- on Sunday 3rd October: 1.30 pm-Welcome; 3 pm-10 years of Amazing Graces; 4 pm-Mass with Bishop Mark Davis and Very Rev Anthony Kay VG.
 
CaFE IS NEARLY HERE!

All being well, this should be on sale from Sunday 12th September.
 
ST MARY'S GIFT AID
 
St Mary's parish account was credited with the magnificent sum of £9,650.38 from the Gift Aid Claim. Many thanks to our organisers who work so hard and thanks to all those who gift aid their donations to the parish. Our immediate target is £10,000 and we are inching our way there. If you pay income tax and you would like to increase your donation by almost a quarter, why not gift aid. Please contact our organiser Paul Abbot on 693745.
 
DAY FOR EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND READERS OF THE CLUSTER
 
A day of recollection for Eucharistic Ministers and Readers of the three parishes of: St Mary's Horwich; Holy Family New Springs and Our Lady's Haigh has been arranged for Saturday 2nd October at Ladywell Fernyhalgh, Preston. Coach leaves St Mary's Horwich at 10.30 am and returns at 4.00 pm. Please ask Fr Jones for an application form and return the slip by 18th September so that we can establish final numbers. Please take a packed lunch.
 
REVIVE
 
Is the Diocesan based charity supporting destitute asylum seekers who are mainly people having no access to public funds and no permission to work. Revive again appeals to parishes for help. Donations of tinned and dried foods may be left at the back of church. A parish team will take them to the Salford base.
